| Painter:
Ferrell A. Harris, Valdosta, Ga.
Ferrell is a traditional painter and loves to paint large canvases that she builds. This is the beginning of the creative process. When one builds the canvas there is already a great deal of time, labor and energy used before applying the first stroke of paint. A bond is established between the artist and the canvas. Her favorite medium is oil. She likes to set up a composition and paint from life. The process that she prefers is using a direct process utilizing many thin layers of paint. She begins with a definite color scheme and builds each layer incorporating color and forms from the previous layer until the reaching the finished product. The fun is some of the surprises that occur using this type process. It enhances the artistic ability to not only see forms for what they are, but also for what they can be Ferrell obtained her Bachelor of Fine Art Degree as a non-traditional student from Valdosta State University. She is also a Registered Cardiac Sonographer having performed cardiac ultrasound for 22 years. She enjoys ultrasound imaging and helping people, but loves being around other artists and creative people. WORKS
